*the last winter days

In the meanwhile winter came to an end, the snowdrops started finally to blossom, I became one year older and my soul a little lighter. The transition from winter to spring feels each time like a rebirth and this is also something one can only truly understand who has experienced the ongoing inescapable darkness of the cold season. It sits in the body and my longing for fresh greens from the garden is huge at this time of the year, so I usually sprout a lot of seeds to make salads, juice carrots or fruits and I started to make a stinging nettle tea cure with fresh stinging nettles from the garden. They are just coming out of the soil, but big enough to cut the little tops to prepare the tea. I sip it throughout the day for as long as it feels right to me and I can only recommend it, especially with fresh stinging nettles. Anyway, I wish you days full of sunshine and spring flowers! Until soon again!

*the last misty days

March has started and I feel finally ready to let go of this odd winter. I had my hands in soil again and started slowly to sort some things out in the garden. The storms made quite a mess, lots of dry leaves and twigs all over the garden beds, but first signs of the tulips are showing up, so spring is near even though it will stay quite cold here the next days. We are having so many pheasants this year, I can observe them every morning and I always find their nice big and colorful feathers in the meadows.
I'm curious what this month will bring for us, in any case have a nice start into March!

*birds

One of my happiest winter moments:
Observing this flock of birds.

*watercolor update

Happy to be able to show you another watercolor painting update! The silver haired, tea drinking girl was a commission I painted for a kind lady who contacted me over instagram. The "spring in the garden" pattern is now available in my spoonflower shop! Further I am planning to re-open my etsy store, but I still need to do a lot of preparations. DaWanda is not existing anymore, unfortunately. I hope you are all doing well and have a productive day!

*one day of snow

Pictures from that one day in January were it was snowing. Winter landscapes have such a calming effect on me. I also often dream of snow, in some of those dreams I feel the cold, in others I can move freely without freezing.

*running

Lots of work right now, working on several different projects at the moment while the storms are rushing over the roof. I can't believe that the second month of the new year is almost over again. Time must have been blown away with the wind also!

*how does it feel

While it's already like spring outside, there will be winter here on my blog for some time still. Everybody is talking about the spring flowers they already see in their area, so I made a walk in the forest to see if the snowdrops are blooming, but they need some more time. Instead I found some bright yellow winter aconites. First I wanted to pick some, but then I did not, as the forests are in a devastating condition and I was observing a bee instead that landed on one of those flowers. Also it seems it will be the last year with snowdrops in that forest as they cut off so many trees that it's now too dry for them. It's all a sad play out there. Hard to stay positive when you see all the damage on nature that got so extreme the last years. In my pictures I save the beauty of nature. Go out, enjoy the forests as much as possible, you can't know how long they will be there.

*watercolor update

It's time for another big watercolor update! I have been quite busy again and try to paint in every free minute. I'm still in the learning process and right now I am trying something different, but it's too early to show something yet. Nevertheless I really love experimenting with this wonderful medium! I hope you also enjoy my new paintings! We had a tiny bit of snow today, just a little bit of white and the air smells so good right now from the dry cold. I wish you all a nice day! Until soon!

*ice garden

One of my favorite kind of weather situations: When the air is moist and cold enough to create those little ice needles on the surface of everything outside.
