At the end of August we had finally our little summer vacation.
We decided to stay in the woodquarter.
It rained a lot, but at the end it got better and we were able to make many long walks in the most beautiful forests and also found some mushrooms that we made for lunch.
Sometimes I wish I could just stay in the woods forever, wandering barefoot on the soft moss and chatting with the trees and birds. It felt so far away from man-made stress, complexness and issues.
I loved that white duck family so much! They were so cute together and the parents were always checking if all children were present and no one missing.
We had some warmer and dry days lately again, but today it's finally raining again. It feels quite refreshing and nice to hear the sound of the pouring rain outside.
Autumn has started while I am still looking at my pictures from summer when the greenhouse was full of cucumber plants. I had to clear them out in the meantime and only some paprika plants have remained. At this time of the year, I feel both, relieved and kind of sad at the same time. Relieved that garden work lessens and sad that I can not continue to pick all those fresh veggies. There are still carrots and beetroot to harvest and I still eat nasturtium leaves and flowers every day to boost my immune system to prepare for winter. I have been quite exhausted lately, but I know it will get better again. Autumn makes me so happy, just to feel the fresh air on my skin and see how the leaves on the trees are shining in that special September light. I hope you are able to enjoy the new season!
Somehow I really enjoy painting watering cans. I did not have to use mine very much this year as we had lots of welcome rain. There are also so many birds in our garden lately which makes me really happy, even a hoopoe visited us! Such an exotic looking bird! And so rare! We also have a lot of bats and the hedgehogs love our cherry laurel hedge which has grown immensely this summer.
