*A poppy month

{Music: Repeal the Union – The Gloaming + The Lobster – The Gloaming}

May is coming to an end,
it was a month full of poppies,
snail visits and other nature blessings.

*In the heart of spring

The tiniest bunny I have ever seen in free nature was hopping around today in the morning in front of our kitchen window. I wonder where his rabbit hole is!

Do you know the Italian illustrator Monica Barengo? I follow her art since many years and I love her illustrated children books and never hesitated to get a copy, even when I do not speak Italian. The first photo is from one of them.

Last week I accidentally dropped my beloved Zenit-E camera. First it fell on my arm where it left a big bruise and then it fell further on the stone floor that we have outside in front of our house door. Some parts broke off and the back cover broke open, which damaged pretty sure most of the film. We will see! Bad news, the camera back does not close anymore, good news, the other broken off parts are not essential and so I try now to just tape shut the camera back with fabric tape after I inserted the film and I hope it will still work for some time at least! Also I have found more joy in photography again. After the hard winter everything seemed blurry in my life. Slowly I feel more connected to myself again. All the flowers and snail friends definitely help, too!

Yesterday we made a forest walk near the Kamp river, one of my favorite places and we spotted a mole that was crawling around in the foliage on the ground. It was a rare sight. I sometimes see one that is having a short look out of the molehill, but I usually don't see them crawling freely outside. Forest bellflowers decorated the paths and back home when I watered the garden beds I saw one of my favorite insects, the white plume moth. (German: Federgeistchen)

Have a good Sunday!

*May days

It took a while until I got my last film back from development service. I'm spending a lot of time in the garden, tending our vegetable plants, flowers and trees. The herbs are growing like crazy and the time of picking and drying for winter has started once again. All the blooming wild poppy around our home is elating my soul, I can't take my eyes off of all the red spots that are moving with the wind in between of all the fresh May green. I wish I could stop time a bit to not have to let go of this month so quickly. Soon I will be back with some new pictures of my wild cam, until that, enjoy your time!

*Little mountain trip

{Music: Loveland (Milky Chance cover) – Ocie Elliott}

We have been on a little mountain trip last weekend to have a change of air and a calm time. Our last time in the mountains is already two years ago and Sunny was with us. He loved such trips and I miss him every day! Time is flying so fast! Weather was still quite cool, but the view was stunning and we saw wild ibexes again.

*watercolor update

At least once a year I’m painting a tower that is surrounded by giant flowers. It is a comfort motif to which I love to return artwise. Same with animals with fruits and birds.

May has started with a bit of very welcome rain, but now the sun is out and I spent the most time in the garden and resowed flowers that had not survived the strong late spring frosts. My little rabbit (the one from my last video) was sitting in my rucola patch and has observed me all day while working. He did not even escape when Ronald mowed the lawn. I enjoy his presence very much.
I also planted my new sorts of dahlias and overall I can't wait until all the flowers start to bloom!

*Through the April weather

{Music: I'm looking through you – Oak Studios + Summer – Oak Studios}

We had it all this April:
Summer temperatures,
frost & snow,
rain & hail
and a lot of wind!
It's never boring with all the wildlife in and around our garden.
Now I'm happy to welcome one of my favorite months of the year, the merry month of May!
