*here comes the sun

Finally, the sun came out after weeks of grey skies—and with it came a kind of spring fatigue. At this time of year, I’m longing for fresh herbs from the garden, but I still have to be patient, so I add fresh sprouts to my meals every day.

We painted our little storage room, and Ronald built a wooden rack for it. I love the smell of freshly cut wood!

We also had some renovation work done in the kitchen and stairwell. Recently, we’ve had a lot of issues with leaking appliances and electrical problems. There’s always something to improve or work on, but it’s such a good feeling when something is finally repaired – especially after improvising for so long.

*the shadow behind me

The sun is hiding since many days. After a year-long break, I finally felt like illustrating again. It’s a strange relationship between me and making art. I would love to paint the fabulous landscapes I see in my dreams with oil colors, but I know I would never be satisfied with the results, so I don’t. I wish I could show those images to others, that world, so surreal and magical at once. I enjoy illustrating, but after sitting in one place for too long, it makes me feel physically unwell, and I still haven’t found the right balance. That's why photography seems to be the only art form so far that really makes me feel good overall. It combines creativity, movement, and focus, connecting me to both my inner and outer worlds.

*Between the oak trees

The oak trees here never loose their full foliage during the cold season, so the leaves are shining in beautiful red tones through the winter forest. We are having super stormy, inhospitable weather these days. It's hard to find sleep at night - I'm reading a lot. What are your favorite books? This year I want to read all unfinished and borrowed books that have piled up over the last years. It’s funny how a bunch of unread books on the bookshelf can create a kind of pressure, even though reading is something so enjoyable.

*Christmas baking

Keeping it simple, also when it comes to baking Christmas cookies. I made two types of cookies and with the egg white leftovers I made meringues.

*a fresh start

The new year has started. I'm way behind with my analogue pictures. Those are still from the beginning of December. Since then we did not have any snow anymore, on the contrary the last day of the old year was incredible warm. Tried to soak up some sun beams while sitting on the terrace with my exhausted body (from food poisoning). Definitely easy for me to let the old year behind me.

It was good, it was bad,
it was full of hope and despair.
It was peaceful like never before.
Still at times I am fighting my own inner wars
when pain gets too intense to be able to deny that it is there.

I love new beginnings.
What will this year bring for us?
Let's wait and see!
